In the late 1960’s & and early 1970s, the Mercedes 300SEL 6.3 was truly ahead of its time, boasting advanced features such as air suspension, power windows, and four-wheel disc brakes, it offered unparalleled comfort and safety. Its interior was meticulously crafted which allowed occupants to be in an atmosphere of sheer opulence.
The performance of the 300SEL 6.3 was a revelation in its era. With a top speed of 137mph and a 0-60 mph acceleration time of just 6.3 seconds, the 300SEL 6.3 redefined the concept of a luxury sedan. The vehicle we have on offer was supplied to the UK market in 1971, it is finished in its factory data card correct colour combination of 571 Red Metallic paint over an exceptional condition original Black Leather interior.
A well specified example it is right hand drive and automatic transmission with electric windows, tinted glass and walnut wood veneers.
This 300SEL 6.3’s history is remarkably impressive, it has all original service booklets, manuals, handbooks and folders, the V5C Registration document shows as 3 former keepers (4 owners from new).
The vehicle has had 45 services since 1971 which is all documented within the history file, this shows how consistently and well cared for the vehicle has been throughout all its owners, through all its life.
There are MoT certificates dated back until 1981 (38 in total), and boasts a substantial folder with invoices dated way back to the vehicles early life including every visit to John Haynes (we have been maintaining this particular 6.3 for nearly 30 years), there are also some nice letters between owners too which all add to the feel of this vehicle.
In summer 2021 the last owner commissioned us to carry out a substantial restoration to the vehicle to ensure it was back in pristine condition, this comes at great expense and has been captured with imagery which has been inserted into the vehicle’s history file, after this restoration the vehicle was displayed at Mercedes-Benz World.
As previously stated, today, finding a Mercedes 300SEL 6.3 in the condition as the vehicle we have on offer is no small feat.
