Finished in Smoke Silver Metallic over Mushroom check cloth interior with a Brown fabric soft top and matching body colour hard top.
Supplied new in August 1989 to Major Bircher via Mercedes-Benz agents Monarch Cars in Staffordshire, the vehicles early life resided in Tamworth until 1997 where the history file tells us Bramley Motors in Surrey acquired the vehicle and straight away sold the 300SL to businessman Mr Geoffrey Cleaver based in Newbury.
Mr Cleaver enjoyed the vehicle for the next 10 years before once again Bramley Motors (the most reputable dealer of this era) purchased the vehicle in again, inevitably the vehicle was sold immediately, this time to its 3rd owner, a retired gentleman, Mr J Garrard of Pulborough West Sussex.
Mr Garrard continued the vehicles beautifully cared for ownership and being based in West Sussex entrusted its Maintenance and care to us here at John Haynes, since 2008 we have been annually looking after this car through our workshops.
In 2013 on Mr Garrard’s behalf we sold the vehicle to Douglas Cooper of Woodford Green, Mr Cooper kept the vehicle in immaculate condition for the next 5 years in his ownership ensuring the 300SL was routinely serviced on schedule.
The last owner purchased the vehicle through us in 2018 and needless to say has kept the trend of fastidious ownership and maintenance all through John Haynes workshops allowing the 300SL to be kept in pristine condition and 100% on point.
This 300SL displays 67,762 miles from new and benefits from an automatic 4 speed transmission, PAS, ABS, 15-hole alloy wheels, electric windows, vanity mirrors, rear seat and seat belts and original Blaupunkt radio with Bluetooth.
As with all SL’s from this era, the current condition is paramount, this vehicle does not disappoint in terms of its bodywork, structure and mechanicals, the usage and care from all of its owners from new has resulted in preserving this 300SL to being one of the finest conditioned R107’s we have seen.
Supported by one of the most comprehensive history files you could wish for, which includes the original bill of sale, original PDI sheet, 26 MoT certificates dating back to its first MoT in July 1992, the original service Maintenance booklet with 22 stamps which are all main dealer or marque specialists, many invoices from new, all original handbooks in the original Mercedes-Benz service pouch and spare keys.
The vehicle has recently had a Maintenance Service ‘plus additional work’ carried out which includes gearbox oil and filter change, fuel filter change and PAS filter change along with its annual MoT test, as through all its life the vehicle is free from any faults with everything operative – any inspection and road-test is more than welcome.
This wonderful 300SL is now on offer again through John Haynes and is ready to be enjoyed once more by any purchaser who quite simply seeks one of the finest R107’s available in the UK today.
